Turn a Bad Job Into A Good Job Prompt

Write a story in which the main character has a bad job, but insists on only seeing the good in it! An example might be: your main character gets a job doing... telephone sales! What can this character "discover" in the job that is pleasing? Perhaps, it's the cute person in the pod next to them, perhaps it's the moment that someone doesn't hang up on them, or, maybe (if all else fails) it's that religious moment of escaping to the bathroom for a smoke!

prompt words:

tall
look
drop
flock
jacket
teen-age
fudge
hair loss
winter
aluminum

linked moments

write about at least 6 moments (like snapshots or postcards) and link them in a piece. Don't think too hard, and don't try to make them all mean too much. They will fit together better if you DON'T TRY. Here are some words to incorporate, if possible.

poverty
doll
couch
dust
debris
gender
scotch
ice cubes

The Fight for Normalcy!

When shit happens, we as humans fight the pain. We don't sit thee and wallow! No! We go into total denial! We look for any polestar, ballast.... our brain says "things are okay" and even tries to prove it!

So that is the idea in this prompt - some awful thing happens to your main character's sense of well being (and you as the writer should be clear about what that thing is, but you don't need to tell us in the story) and your main character FIGHTS TO KEEP THINGS STABLE. DO NOT let this character be tragic!!!
